  Biography

John Ryder

I offer the following professional services: Counsellor, Life Coach and Mentor, Teacher and Group Facilitator.

I have been involved in the personal development field for almost twenty years.
I am a Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and also a Member of the British Association for the Person-Centred Approach (BAPCA)

I began training in 1986 with personal development workshops in an Integrative approach involving Gestalt, Psychosynthesis, Meditation and guided imagery, and Bioenergetics. In 1993 I added Counselling and Hypnotherapy to my portfolio.
Learning is a continual process for me, I continue to attend various courses, seminars and workshops to ‘sharpen the saw’ as well as receiving ongoing supervision as part of professional conduct.

Most recently, in 2002 I graduated with distinction from the country's leading Life Coach training institution, The Coaching Academy. I have since worked as a Personal Mentor Coach for the Academy, working with graduating students
In 2005 I completed a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling bringing my qualifications up to date with current professional requirements. I work in two local counselling agencies on a voluntary basis.

Since 1991 I have supported hundreds of people through personal change on a one-to-one basis, in groups, and in personal development workshops as a participant, facilitator and group leader.

I have a commercial background in industry. I have managed and run successful businesses, and so I am familiar with the complexities and challenges of being self-employed, employing staff and running a business.
I have also studied both Advertising and Electronics in further education.

Beyond personal development, my other passions include ecological sustainability and great cooking.
I am married with two 'grown-up' children and live in Buckinghamshire

Courses and events

I run courses and workshops for business, Adult Education consortia and in local authority funded schemes.

These include:

LifecoachingPersonal Development
During this ten-week evening class students get the chance to really ring some changes in their lives. We focus on both individual goals and on generic life-skills.

Lifecoachingan introduction
A one-day taster workshop for those interested in dipping a toe in the water of lifecoaching

Stress management
Understanding and maximising our ability to handle stress is essential for living life to the full

Meditation
I have been practicing meditation for 30 years and consider it to be a very practical solution for much of the stress and dis-ease we experience today.

Time management
“If only I had the time ...” - actually you do! Paying attention to where we put our attention is the key.

I run short workshops at the Festivals of Well-being in Aylesbury, Milton Keynes, Maidenhead and High Wycombe each year. I facilitate and take part in other courses and workshops by arrangement.

I am currently involved in delivering capacity building workshops and supporting a weight-loss programme
